Google Launches New eBooks Store

Google eBooks is a new service for buying and reading digital books. Different rival services like the Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook, Google eBooks is cloud-based, meaning you don't need a dedicated device to read books — virtually any browser will do.

Google's accessible e-books service, Google Books, which provides the full text of many public-domain books, will be included into Google eBooks. As such, the new service has 3 million books existing for reading, according to Google. "Hundreds of thousands" of those will be for sale.

Launching Google eBooks is an initial step toward giving you better access to the vast mixture of information and entertainment found in books. Our journey has just begun. We welcome your criticism as we read on to the next chapter.
